Hello world, Summer is past, and Fall events approach!

Posted on Sep 2, 2014

Summer has flown by, and the smell of fall is on the air in the Rocky Mountains. What a summer it was. I taught in Alaska for a week at the Alaska Folk Arts Camp in Anchorage, and met some wonderful people, talented, fun youngsters and the amazing parents and teachers committed to getting extraordinary music education to them. What a treat this was to be part of. Then a month in Europe without the fiddle, but straight back into performing, playing weddings and teaching upon my return and a trip up to Grand Targee Music Festival on the WY/ID boarder – what a beautiful place. Coming up this fall are a number of CO based concerts and workshops. We are approaching the one-year anniversary of the epic flood that hit and demolished large parts of our beautiful little town of Lyons, causing us to evacuate for almost 3 months, and we’re celebrating our ongoing recovery the best way we know how – with music!

Over the next few months, you can find me playing with:

The Granias featuring Margot Krimmel on harp, Annie Sirontniak on guitar, Beth Gadbaw on vocals and Jessie Burns on fiddle , performs at The Sounds of Lyons on September 14th, in Sandstone Park. See http://soundsoflyons.com for more details.

September 18th sees a house concert in Lyons, CO with Take Down the Door featuring Beth Gadbaw on vocals, Eric Thorin on bass, Adam Agee and Jessie Burns on fiddles and Jon Sousa on guitar. We are having a blast playing together in this exciting Irish music project made up of musicians with wonderful musical pasts. Tickets are $15 and $10 for students and can be reserved here.

I’m honored to be part of The Spanish Peaks Irish Festival http://www.celticmusicfest.com this year, which kicks off on September 24th-28th, 2014. I’ll be joining old friends ( and hopefully new ones!) to play and teach at workshops, ceilis and concerts in this beautiful area of Colorado, close to the New Mexico boarder.

Take Down the Door will be performing at Oskar Blues in Lyons, CO on October 18th, 2014. A favorite local’s hang out, this venue is a fabulous place to see live music and has a great history of bringing amazing players to Lyons. http://eat.oskarblues.com/events/

Looking towards next year, Take Down the Door, will be playing at the Colorado Music Festival on February 21st 2015, for both a kids show and an evening performance. This is a great festival and we’re really delighted to be on their roster, check out: http://www.comusic.org

I’m booked back in the studio this fall to wrap up my solo album which I’ve been working on for a long time, in-between tours and having babies, but I am so excited to be on the home-stretch to finishing it finally and getting it out to the world. Please send encouraging thoughts on this front! Have a great Fall and I’ll be posting more concerts up here as they emerge.
